Learning Council Project
Autumn 2 and Spring 1 2016-2017
The Learning Council will be looking at maths at New Waltham Academy. This term they will begin by carrying out a maths environment learning walk around school, focusing on displays in the different classrooms and maths that is taking place in other subjects or could take place in other subjects. In the Spring Term, the children will be following this up by observing foundation subject lessons across the school and again looking at the maths which is taking place in these lessons or could take place. Finally the Learning Council will feed back their findings to staff in a staff meeting.
During the Summer Term, the learning council will be working on a project to raise awareness of healthy eating in school as part of our Healthy Places Award. They will be designing and producing a whole school display, and part of which will be interactive so children can be active in their learning and understanding. The display will focus on informing others of the different food groups with a link to the Eat Well Plate guide, as well as helping others make the healthy food choices and swaps. They will also lead KS1 and KS2 assemblies introducing and explaining their display when completed.
