Previous achievements Planet Protectors

Planet Protectors has been going since 2019 and we are incredibly proud of everything that we have achieved since then. Some of the awards we have earned include:
Eco-School’s ‘Green Flag’ award in 2023 and 2024, Woodland Trust Green Tree Schools Bronze, Silver and Gold awards, and we were recognised as a School For Nature and a Sustainability Pioneer school in 2025.

Over the last few years, we have been trying to rewild certain areas of the school. We have planted a variety of tree saplings (donated from the Woodland Trust) around edge of school field, planted a cherry tree as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative, planted plants, donated by Morrisons (Grimsby) and Pennells Garden Centre (Cleethorpes), using equipment and compost which was donated by Big Red Shed.

We complete regular litter picks around the school and, each year, we have participated in Keep Britain Tidy’s ‘Great Big School Clean’. We also participate in the RSPB’s ‘Big School Birdwatch’ each year and submit our results to the RSPB.

Last year, we held a Planet Protectors stall at our school Summer fayre. We invited Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue and Josh Forrester (NELC Cleethorpes Coastal Ranger) to join us. All money made on our stall was donated to Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue.

We also have special visitors each half-term. So far we have enjoyed sessions with James Elliot (Canoe River Cleaner), Josh Forrester (NELC Cleethorpes Coastal Ranger), Charlie’s Hedgehog Care and Sarah Palmer (House with the Blue Door/Colour Outside The Lines).
